Your Day Master (日主) is the single most important element in your entire BaZi chart. It's the Heavenly Stem of your Day Pillar — the character that represents your core identity, your fundamental nature, and how you interact with the world.

Finding Your Day Master

When you calculate your Four Pillars, each pillar has two characters: a Heavenly Stem (天干) on top and an Earthly Branch (地支) on the bottom. Your Day Master is the top character of the Day Pillar — it's literally "you" in your chart.

Day Master Strength

Understanding whether your Day Master is strong, weak, or balanced is crucial:

Strong Day Master

You have abundant energy in your core element. This gives you confidence, leadership ability, and resilience. The challenge is channeling this energy productively — too much strength can become stubbornness or overconfidence.

Favorable Element (用神)

Based on your Day Master strength, BaZi identifies your "favorable element" — the element that brings the most benefit to your life:
